GOOLE: A project to build a plane at the town's high school is taxiing towards take-off thanks to a £1,000 donation from aeronautics company BAE Systems.

The Spirit of Goole project has also been granted charity status, which it is hoped will attract backing from local businesses.

The cash handout from BAE followed a request for sponsorship from Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy, who is backing the project.

Mr Percy said: "BAE Systems has a very good record of engaging with local schools and it is fantastic that they are again investing in local young people and showing a commitment to the local area."
