EAST Riding Council is investing £1.4m to upgrade two of its household waste recycling sites.

Up to £825,000 is being invested in the Humberfield site in North Ferriby and £600,000 in Driffield's Kellythorpe site.

Work has started on the Humberfield site.

The works include making both sites split-level so residents can drive up ramps to the recycling containers, rather than having to climb steps. Both will also become one-way, with separate entrances and exits, which is hoped will speed up the flow of traffic, particularly at Humberfield where queues of cars have been a regular sight.
