£100m on pointless vote
HOW can anyone justify the £100m that has just been wasted on a totally pointless election for police and crime commissioners.
Don't blame the people for not turning out in droves to vote, blame the powers that be for a poor lack of information on the policies of candidates and what they were proposing to bring to the role.
I would like to know exactly why we need more than 40 commissioners let alone just one.
My thought is that the new commissioners will be the whipping boys for when all the cuts finally bite and police numbers are reduced and the budgets are slashed.

Will the commissioners be answerable to the public when things start to go wrong after the cuts take place?
Will they take the flack for it? Maybe the newly elected police commissioners role has been created to deflect the anger that will be voiced.
Maybe people never had much interest because the public are fed up with politicians in general seemingly wasting a fortune while most of us are struggling on a daily basis.
Wouldn't this have been a perfect opportunity to apply the in or out vote at the bottom of the ballet paper regarding the EU?
This was a golden opportunity for Cameron to get the voters back onside.
The public would then understand the huge amount of money it took to stage this shambles.
