£20,000 more to spend on Coronation Gardens in Beverley
IT IS a tranquil haven away from the hustle of Beverley town centre.
Coronation Gardens in North Bar Within has already been given sensory appeal by Beverley Civic Society.

Now members have £20,000 earmarked to further improve the surroundings.

She said: "We're at the second stage of a proposal we put in place in 2005.
"We have done the west end of the garden as a sensory area, it was designed for people with disabilities.
"Now we are looking at the eastern end nearer to the road."
Next year, for the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's Coronation, the society plans to spend money smartening up the surroundings and improving the benches so even more people will be able to enjoy the setting.
The group has been granted money from Commuted Sums. The fund comes from money paid by developers as part of the planning process if they want to develop land in the town.
It is administered by East Riding Council.
Mrs Major said: "To use the money we have to get a faculty from the Church of England. That's because it's an old burial ground for St Mary's Church.
"It's maintained by the council but the church still has a say over how it's managed."
Last year, Beverley Civic Society marked its 50th anniversary.
It is a non-political organisation, serving the town and its history. Much of the work is done in conjunction with East Riding Council, Beverley Town Council and Beverley Renaissance.
Current interests are the Flemingate and Grovehill sites, the southern relief road and re-paving the town centre.
The Coronation Gardens project has been ongoing since 2006. In March, this year architect Richard Lancaster addressed the society about the need to revamp the garden.
The society already has the approval of the Parochial Church Council. It needs approval from the Diocese and the Church of England.
Mrs Major said: "It could still be a few weeks down the line but it's something we hope is going to happen.
"By next summer we hope we'll have been able to put in improved features. We'd also like to renovate the water feature in the sensory garden because that doesn't work.
"We know since the sensory garden was put in there has been increased use."
