The dream of top-flight football is now within touching distance following the Tigers' 2-0 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls, Watford.
With a full house now expected to roar City on at the KC Stadium in the second leg of the play-off semi-final, many fans already believe they have one foot in the final at the home of football on May 24.
Supporters who watched the game on a big screen at the KC Stadium, at pubs across the city and at Watford, said they are now confident their team can secure promotion to the Premier League for the first time.
Ted Chance, 58, of Hessle, made the trip to the KC to see the game with more than 2,000 other fans.
He said: “I'm really pleased. We would've liked another goal, but we're happy with the result.”
Margaret Chance, 52, said: “I'm absolutely delighted with the result. We wanted a win and expected it, really."
Paul Featherstone, 38, of Newland Avenue, west Hull, said he is supremely confident the team will finish the job on Wednesday.
“It's Wembley all the way,” he said.
“I came here to watch it because it is the Tigers home. I'm Hull through and through and I love it.”
He reserved special praise for hometown heroes goalscorers Nick Barmby and Dean Windass.
Mr Featherstone said: “The Hull City lads have done us proud today."
