Well done for protecting badgers from cruel act
I am writing with regard to your recent story headed "Three men guilty of tampering with badger sett".
Well done to Humberside Police, the prosecution and judge at Hull Magistrates' Court and all others involved in the conviction of the three men for "interfering" with the badger sett at Sunk Island.
These animals have been saved from the intense suffering, and protracted agony and death of badger baiting, staged for the so-called entertainment of those to whom watching an animal suffer – even their own dogs – is a perverted pleasure.
We urge all members of the public who know of badger setts to watch out for similar criminal interference. If you see anyone acting suspiciously, do not approach the sett, but note the number of people, dogs, spades, vehicles nearby, etc, and inform the police immediately. Do not put yourselves into danger.
