Recipes offer distinctive and unique flavours
Impressive recipes and one of the best selections of traditional dishes, means Voujon is certainly one of the city’s main contenders for serving the best Indian food.
A previous winner of the Mail’s restaurant awards and based in Hull Road, Anlaby, Voujon specialises in balti dishes, vegetarian delicacies and tandoori specialities, as well as a range of unique fish recipes.
Along with delicious recipes, the restaurant has had a new refurbishment, so guests can experience a pleasant atmosphere with their meal.
Each dish has its own distinctive flavour due to the mixture of spices used and the chefs at Voujon combine their own flavours together with the western menu to create an exquisite selection.
Starters include fish kebab (£2.40) tasty tuna cooked in medium spices served with fresh salad. Or for vegetarians, a morich bahar (£2.40) which is a large sweet pepper (capsicums) deep fried and then stuffed with bangladeshi style mixed vegetables.
The chef’s specials, which come served with pilau rice, include special sizzler juiliette (£8.95), a fabulous selection from its own tandoori chicken or lamb marinated in fresh herbs and spices with capsicum, onions and flaming brandy. Khulnar king prawn (£11.95) is large king prawns barbecued in the shell then delicately spiced with herbs in a thick Bangladeshi style sauce.
There are also special balti dishes which come with naan bread or roti and include goan mussels balti (£10.95) – fresh mussels cooked balti style with garlic and spiced with herbs.
On a Monday, the restaurant has a special set menu priced at £8.95 for a four-course meal.
Voujon can cater for large parties and children, too.
