Figaro Restaurant.

My husband and I went to Figaro to celebrate our Silver Wedding on 20th Dec. Having been many times when it was La Scala we were welcomed back like the old friends that we are. Change of decor but the food and service are still as excellent as they always have been. Only trouble is that we live very close to La Scala takeaway which is equally as good so we use that regularly and Figaro for special occasions!! Many thanks to you all. ONE of East Yorkshire’s finest Italian restaurants is open again and aiming to provide a real taste of the
Mediterranean all year round. Figaro, in New Walkergate, Beverley, reopened in March after an extensive
refurbishment to its premises in the popular market town. With a similar menu to before, but with a few
new additions, owner Giovanni Jovainy is hoping to pull in the customers over the coming months.
“We had a few problems with the building structurally, but everything is sorted now and we are back and better than ever,” said Giovanni, who bought the restaurant in 2000 with his
brother Louie.
“It’s been a tough time for us, with customers not knowing what was going on, but we are pleased to be back and doing what we love – serving top quality and authentic Italian food.
“Italian cuisine is perfect for all year round, it is really fresh and we use only the finest local ingredients.”
Figaro offers an extensive menu of traditional Italian dishes, with a full range of starters, main courses and desserts.
With about 80 items to choose from, customers are certainly spoilt for choice and able to select their favourite dishes according to the season.
Giovanni says the fillet steak with a creamy gorgonzola sauce is always a popular option with diners, while there are lots of fish dishes, pizza, pasta and salads available, too.
“I’m a proud family man and a lot of our recipes are the ones I grew up with,” said Giovanni, who also provides a specials board to offer customers something a little different to the norm.
“These dishes mean a lot to me personally, but Italian food is some of the most popular in the world. My head chef also plays a big role in the make up of our menu, and we are really pleased with what we have to offer.”
Figaro, formerly called La Scala, is able to take bookings and accommodate walk-in diners thanks to its array of tables, which can cater for up to 80 people. It also has a fine bar area offering a full range of drinks before, during and after
your meal. Food is served throughout the evening from 5pm to 9.45pm during the week and also from noon to 2.30pm on Sundays when the usual Italian menu is served alongside the occasional traditional English roast lunch. With families in mind, Figaro offers a discount period from 5pm to 6.45pm during the week when customers can receive up to 30 per cent off the price off their meals.
“The great thing about Italian food is it’s suitable for everybody. Couples enjoy eating here, but children love the food, too,” said Giovanni.

    Same great service as always!

“The decor might have changed but the quality of food certainly hasn't. The family hour makes a meal out very affordable. I would recommend the steak. A relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff make this restaurant just as good as ever!”

“Only too happy to review Figaro. Superb food, attentive and polite staff, and relaxed atmosphere. Have been countless times as La Scala, & now Figaro (what's the difference??), taken friends, family, and business colleagues, and we have always been impressed. We keep it for special occasions, as that is what you get when you dine here. Top notch ~ see you again soon Figaro.”
