Well worth travelling to.....

We heard about this restaurant from a news article and thought we would give it a try.... we were not disappointed! Having eaten at ***u in London, Wasabi Teppanyaki in Leeds and Yo Sushi also in Leeds, we came with a good cross section of Japanese cuisine experience. We had two small dishes to start with, Kara-age and the Gyoza dumplings. Both dishes were full of flavour and presented well. For our mains, we had the Ogino nigiri & sashimi platter to share, a spicy beef teriyaki and the spicy ramen noodles. Again, all the dishes were packed with flavour, well presented and on a par with the restaurants we have been to. I suppose the only small gripe I had was that we had to wait over 20 minutes for the sushi and sashimi platter. Having said that, it was worth the wait..... Price wise, they are a little above average prices, but given the ambiance and food, we thought it good value. Having eaten at other Beverley establishments, we did at least come away with change in our pockets! Look forward to seeing them again when we are in the area.

Founded in March 2012, we, the owners, Rieko & Julian Ogino-Stamford have vast experience in modern and historical Japanese culture, traditions and cuisine. Knowing these three key elements has allowed us to ensure your dining experience wont be forgotten.

Our concept of high quality Japanese cuisine fused with European influences and using seasonal local produce set us apart from the rest.

The restaurant was designed with the modern Japan in mind. With subtle hints of Japan, our restaurant is warm and inviting with an open kitchen. Spacious and airy, it comfortably seats 70 people with half being banquet seating for our intimate dining or larger parties. Our contemporary bar delivers Sake, cocktails, beer and spirits with comfortable seating and Japanese background music allows you to relax before and after your meal.

FOOD;

Japanese food has become one of the most popular, stylish, tasty, and healthy 'in' foods in recent years. The menu naturally consists of Sushi and Sashimi, but offers a wide range of other dishes, using meats such as; beef, chicken, pork and duck.

Other dishes include Tempura, Katsu-curry, Ramen noodles and a whole lot more. With a concept of "Modern Japanese with European twist", we aim to create dishes that are not only beautifully presented but also simply delicious. We ensure that the freshest of ingredients are sourced locally every day wherever possible. All our food is freshly prepared and cooked in our kitchen by our highly trained and dedicated chefs. Our food in the main is served on traditional Japanese dishware to add to your experience.

    the sushi is amazing!

“If you are looking for the most authentic Japanese food this is your place. Once we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and told to sit anywhere. The first thoughts we had were of Japan while looking at the decor. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Absolutely no complaint about service here!

    will definitely come back!”

    nice restaurant, But....

“Although the sushi was fresh and well presented. I can't help but express - it isn't any better then other sushi restaurants. the menu is over priced for what it is.
I would rather travel to leeds for yo Sushi. Least you can pick & mix, have a variety of dishes at a reasonable price.
When questioned the waiter on various dishes, He didn't have any knowledge about the menu.
I also think the owners should smile more. Ask the customers if they enjoyed their meal or at least say thank you & goodbye.

I would go again if they dropped the price. For a quick fix.”

    Very Exciting!

“We ate at their restaurant on Saturday night and it was buzzing with people. We didn't know what to expect when we got there, but the restaurant is much bigger than expected, modern and plush.
We had their Zesai Tasting Platter to share which looked and tasted fantastic. I had a Ishiyaki Steak which came on a hot stone were you cook the meat vegetables yourself and my wife had the Cruchy Spider Crab Maki which is sushi.
I must admit, we were very impressed with what they had to offer, the staff were great and can't wait to go back and try some more..... well done!”
