A return to Glory
It might well have been timed to perfection. Just as the nation is gliding off the back of a terrific Olympic experience, another reason to be proud to be be British is appearing on the horizon.

What is even more remarkable is that the first generation appeared in 1970 and this new model will be the fourth generation – proving that just three models have successfully seen off 42 years' worth of rivals.
But it is the balancing act between the modern and the classic that will be most crucial, as Range Rover buyers are notoriously traditional, yet no brand can survive without drawing younger buyers into its products.

The finished article is unmistakably a Range Rover but shows influences from the modern Evoque as well as sharp, contemporary detailing.
Perhaps more importantly is that there is more aluminium in the structure than ever before.
The lightweight material is used for the monocoque chassis as well as the body panels and subframes: the maximum weight saving compared to the outgoing model is a remarkable 420kg, a crucial factor in delivering better economy and emissions performance in a vehicle segment often seen as consumptive.
Land Rover global brand director John Edwards says: "The new Range Rover preserves the essential, unique character of the vehicle – that special blend of luxury, performance and unmatched all-terrain capability.
"However, its clean sheet design and revolutionary lightweight construction have enabled us to transform the experience for luxury vehicle customers, with a step change in comfort, refinement and handling to create the most capable Range Rover ever built."
With first deliveries to customers due from early next year, the new 4x4 vehicle will be made at the company's Solihull plant in the West Midlands.
Prices will be confirmed soon.
