I FULLY agree with Allan S Razey's letter in Saturday's Mail on his excellent predictions concerning the appointment of a police and crime commissioner for Humberside.

He has covered all that I and many thousands of other Mail readers think about this appointment.

However, I would like to add a couple of points of my own on how this £75,000 salary will, in two years be £150,000, the £75,000 is just to get it accepted.

Also, the first question on the ballot form should be, do you want a police and crime commissioner for Humberside? Yes or no.

If it's no then that's it, go no further.

There is a silly bit of talk about the commissioner being able to sack the police chief constable, what is more to the point, how do we get rid of the commissioner?

The transparency of any contract should be published before the post is taken up and bonuses and golden handshakes known in advance.

We want no more "we had to pay it because it was in the contract".

Pickering Road, Hull.
