"I think she was always meant to be a mother in so many ways," Billy Bob tells Extra. "I'm just so happy for her."
Angelina and Billy Bob split five years ago in 2002, shortly after she adopted her first child Maddox from Cambodia. Brad Pitt officially adopted Maddox in 2006.
"I'm happy for the kids to have a mother like her and a father like him," added Billy Bob, who is himself a dad of four.
The 52-year-old actor also praised Angelina's humanitarian efforts - she is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN.
"I'm astounded that somebody has that kind of passion and that much energy for something that actually does affect people and help people out," he says.
Angie is expected to give birth to her second and third biological children in August.
