Emile: It was a shock

The actor went from starring in Into The Wild - a movie shot mainly in the great outdoors - to filming his new high-octane racing flick, which is set in a colourful, futuristic world.
To create the larger than life setting, the cast spent much of the time filming against a green screen before the Wachowski brothers, who directed, added their brand of post-production computer wizardry.
"It was a shock. We were outdoors every day on Into The Wild, climbing mountains and crossing rivers so to jump onto the green screen was tough," says Emile.
"There's no doubt that it's not as fun as being outdoors, but it's a challenge in many different ways. There are tests of endurance, challenges to your imagination and trying to picture stuff being there that isn't there. So it was a shock, but a welcome one."
He added: "Filming in front of a green screen makes it harder as an actor, because you've got to be on your game and it's easy to slip up, so you've always got to be focused. The real environment is always easier on the actor, because it's more natural to react to."
The film, which also stars Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci, Matthew Fox and John Goodman, is an adaptation of the original Japanese cartoon, which is set in a world of corporate greed, race fixing and dirty tactics.
It opens in the UK on Friday May 9.
