Shattered eye is new BB logo

04:22 - 13-May-2008

The new Big Brother logo - a shattered eye - has been unveiled.

This summer's series will be the ninth outing of the controversial Channel 4 reality TV show.

Big Brother is returning in June with its long-running host Davina McCall back as presenter despite reports that Channel 4 bosses were considering resting the series for a year.

Last year's winner was Brian Belo, who beat the bookmakers' favourites, blonde Barbie-loving twins Sam and Amanda Marchant to take the BB crown. But the summer show failed to catch fire and viewing figures plummeted.

Channel 4 bosses already cancelled spin-off show Celebrity Big Brother in the wake of racism and bullying rows.

And this year, it screened Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, in its place, but the new format, which was screened on digital channel E4, only attracted an average 600,000 viewers.

A Big Brother spokeswoman said they had always planned to bring back the show in the summer.
