Walker double secures Hall Road win

Walker double secures Hall Road win

Hall Road secured their first victory since October thanks to a 2-1 win over Winterton.

Winterton had a few early chances, but the defence handled everything with ease.

It was something of a surprise when Rangers went ahead as the ball was played into the box and the visitors' keeper went up for the ball and dropped it at the feet of Adam Walker, who slotted the ball home with ease.

The second half began with Rangers on top and it wasn't until Winterton had a player sent off that they came back into the game.

A wayward pass was played back to keeper Burley and striker Liam Wilkin was first to the ball to slot home to bring the scores level. The 10 men stepped up their game but the Rangers defence held firm with the two new centre halves Hall and Craig Suddaby having outstanding games as was keeper Burley.

The game seemed to be heading for a draw when Hall Road got the winner.

The ball was crossed and from what seemed an impossible angle Walker slotted home for a fantastic finish to get his second of the game to make the final score 2-1 and complete a memorable afternoon.

Rangers will be hoping this result will be the turning point to there season as they face a hectic schedule ahead with another home game on Wednesday against Liversedge kick-off 7.45.

Hall Road: Burley, Ingram, Cattermole, Robbins (Friend 75), Suddaby, Hall, Walker, Thacker, McGarry (Jackman 75), Bowsley, Wilson (Palmer 52).
