Rovers' Daniel Fitzhenry, right, is consoled by Ben Galea

FORMER Hull KR hooker Daniel Fitzhenry predicts a very bright future for Rovers after he made an emotional farewell to Craven Park on Saturday night.

Fitzhenry had to be comforted by fellow Australian Ben Galea moments after Wigan's 30-16 defeat ended Rovers hopes of reaching the Grand Final at Old Trafford.

The tears showed how hurt he was not to leave Rovers fans with something to cheer.

After two years at the club, the 29-year-old struggled to hold back the tears as Rovers fans chanted his name after the final hooter.

"I was very emotional after the game," admitted Fitzhenry.

"I don't cry too many times, but I had tears in my eyes because I'm going to miss this place.

"It was very disappointing.

"We shot ourselves in the foot in the first half.

"We put a good effort in during the second half but we just weren't good enough.

"I just want to thank the fans for their support not only for myself but also for the team.

"They have been great and that's what makes Hull Kingston Rovers so special."
