MIKE Burnett has revealed missing out on a debut derby appearance has spurred him on to become a better player.

The 19-year-old was left out of the Cardiff showpiece despite helping Hull to three wins in the weeks preceding Millennium Magic.

Burnett put the disappointment behind him to bounce back in style with another impressive outing against Widnes in the cup.
