Your tributes to Dean Windass
Here are your tributes to Dean Windass from www.thisishull.co.uk
Neil Theasby, from Sheffield, said: A couple of years ago, Hull City fans elected Ken Wagstaff as the greatest ever Hull City player. On behalf of thousands of fans I would now suggest that beyond a shadow of doubt, the greatest player ever to play for the Tigers is Dean Windass. Waggy comes second. That goal at Wembley was miraculous. The best and most important goal ever scored by a Hull City player. In addition, Dean is a Hull City fan whose loyalty to the club has been without question. As I left the echoing staircases of Wembley Stadium, I sang out "There's only one Deano". The fact Phil Brown did not give Deano a fair crack of the whip in the Premier League is obvious, but it should not stop us all from recognising Dean's greatness. I wish him all the best at Oldham and hope he cracks in a few more goals and has a few more jokes with the officials. Dean Windass – Legend – I thank you!

Dean Windass
Maxine Deyes, from Hull, said: Deano is a legend! We will see him back in Hull in the future when he becomes manager of the Tigers.
Paul Deanes and Anthony Deanes, from Hull, said: All the best and good luck. Thanks for Wembley.
Jamie, serving in the Second Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, said: I am a Hull lad in a regiment full of lads from Middlesbrough. All of whom speak highly of Deano. Everywhere he has gone he's given people memories. Boro, Aberdeen, Bradford, Oxford, Sheffield, and especially Hull. Go give the Oldham fans that honour now, Deano. Best wishes.
Kay and Co, from Hull, wrote this poem: Ode To Deano....
Although you aren't dead
This tribute's being said...
At Wemberley
Your goal made us trembly
You got us in top flight
With your true grit and fight
You have done Hull proud
The crowd was always loud....
Chanting Deano! We Love You!
And this will always be true.
Tiger Andy, from Hull, said: No player has ever contributed to Hull City what Dean Windass has. From the first time I saw Deano play in the early 90s it was obvious he was something special. Pure passion and commitment. In the years after he left there was always talk of him coming back to City some day and a strange feeling everything would somehow be okay if he did. And then he did come back. And everything was infinitely better than okay. Thanks for the memories Deano, Deano, Deano!
Gary Bailey, from east Hull, said: From Boothferry to Wembley sums up the whole of the Deano story. His career has had many highs and lows, but both ends of the scale were here at Hull City. The dark Boothferry days when he was sold to Aberdeen being the low and the unforgetable high of May 24 last year and that volley. A living Hull City legend. Now when is this Deano statue going to be built?
Margaret B, from west Hull, said: Sorry to see you go Deano good luck and thank you for all the effort you have put in and especially the magic goal xx
Mark G, from Hull, said: Dean it is sad to see you go you have played a big part at Hull for so many years. You are a legend and always will be. Hope to see you back at Hull in the next few years. All the best to you.
Bulmer, from Cottingham, said: Cheers Deano, you're a true legend and we will never forget you. All the best at the Latics.
Sharpy, from Burton on Trent, said: Your spirit, pride of being a Hull lad and your goal got City to the Premier League dreamland. The City is proud of you. A big loss to the club. Get back soon.
Kirsty, from Bromley in Kent, said: Thank you Deano. You'll never realise how happy you made us feel.
Shaun, from Hull, said: People have to remember that without you Hull City would not be playing Premier League footy. With you doing what you did for two seasons, playing a major part in saving them from relegation and promotion to the promised land, I believe you were not given a chance. I think at your age you were a squad player, so in cup games you are the first name on the team sheet. I believe you should have seen this season out and on the final day been given a standing ovation at the KC, which would ensure you are the greatest player to pull on the Hull City shirt. The fact you are a local lad makes it even better, because in my eyes you are the greatest player Hull City has ever had. Good luck in whatever you do next. You have nothing to prove any more. Legend.
Legs, from Hull, said: All the very best to you Deano, you are a credit to Hull and a great ambassador of football. Sorry we could not keep you, but understand you still need to play. Oldham have gained a great guy/player. Good luck in all you do in your next chapter of life. x
Tony Rodgers, from west Hull, said: Well Deano my old son, we always said on Gipsyville all those years ago that you would do something special one day, and believe me mate you could not have done anything more than on May 24 at 3.39pm. We all stood in shock for a few seconds then it sunk in – a Roy of the Rovers game for you Deano. May I thank you on behalf of all Hull City fans for giving us our dream, we will never forget that day. Good luck at Oldham. Always a legend.
Richard Hudson, from Hull, said: Dean will always have a special place at the KC Stadium. From the day he returned to that magical moment at Wembley he set the club on fire. No one player wins promotion to the Premiership, but without Deano we wouldn't be there now. He will be missed around the place, but at least he is doing something he loves - playing football. Good luck Deano and thanks for everything.
Eddie Kelsall, from Hessle, said: Simply the greatest!
Mike from Hornsea said: Dean Windass - thanks.
Ian Jarvis, from Oldham, said: Dean you are leaving a great club with fantastic supporters who are going to miss you massively, but you are coming to a club who are aiming to get back in the Premier League, hopefully with you! Welcome to Oldham Dean Windass. Good luck in Premier League Hull City, hope you get a top-six finish.
Mally Dawson, from Hull, said: Deano, I remember when you went to take a throw-in at Boothferry Park and you leaned over to an older fan in the best stand and took off his flat cap, put it on and then proceeded to take the throw! You always had a good laugh with us fans. Thanks for the memories.
Ian Smith, from Hull, said: A true legend through and through you made many a grown man cry with your wonder goal at Wembley keep up the hard work. You deserve a big pat on the back from every true Hull City supporter as you leave for Oldham.
Gavin Leigh, from Hull, said: Many, many thanks Deano for being a wonderful ambassador for Hull City. What you did for us can never be done again and you gave us supporters a vision of our dreams and turned it into reality. For that Deano I salute you and wish you all the very best in Oldham. May you continue to amaze the footballing world. You are a legend.
DynamoRich, from Hull, said: This man is not only a legend, but an inspiration to both youth and adult footballers. City have been happy to cash in on the back of Windass and owe him some loyalty. If not with a place in the first team then a coaching role when he hangs his boots up. He may have been sent off a few times in his career but he has given 100 per cent wherever he has gone. His attitude towards fitness and dedication should be adopted by those who have taken his place in the team. Well done Deano for living the dream and letting others share it with you.
Toni, from Hessle, said: Deano, you are and will always be a hero in the hearts of all Tigers fans. You will be remembered always and forever. Good luck at Oldham, I am sure you will be a legend there too xxxxx
