I NOTE with some interest the comments made by Councillor DeFreitas regarding the rise in parking fees being muted by the current Labour controlled council.

He claims that a 433 per cent in fees "is riduculous" and that the scheme "must be fairly priced".

If my memory serves me correctly, Councillor DeFreitas, pictured, along with his counterpart Councillor Brookes, introduced a 700 per cent rise in allotment charges not so many years ago.

It begs the question: At the time of such a massive increase to allotment holders in the town, did Councillor DeFreitas think it was "unfair" or "ridiculous".

You could be cynical and think that when not in power the Liberal Democrats can and will say anything they wish, recent history clearly tells us this.
