We've driven the cars off the bend
NEW parking restrictions are set to be introduced on a west Hull housing estate next month after residents warned there would be a crash.
Those living in Summergroves Way fear there will be a serious accident if nothing is done about the growing number of cars parking in the estate.

Now, Hull City Council has confirmed it will shortly put double yellow lines along a section of the main road through the estate to ease the problem.
The issue has arisen as more and more workers from the Priory Park East industrial area are parking on a bend in the estate, leaving little room for vehicles to pass.
Summergroves Way Residents' Association chairmanPhil Johnson said: "We have been told the plans for double yellow lines have been given the go-ahead with no objections.
"This means they should be in place by the end of next month, which will be a big relief to all residents round here.
"The potential for a crash on this stretch of road has been increasing as more people are working at Priory Park and are parking here.
"But with these restrictions and the new parking spaces at the fire station, there should be a huge improvement."
Resident Paul Bennett believes double yellow lines are the only option.
He said: "We have had a real issue with parking round here, particularly with buses coming round the bend.
"Our vision is obstructed by the parked vehicles.
"Motorists have had to mount grass verges and reverse, which has caused huge safety issues.
"We are very pleased to hear double yellow lines are being painted, which will improve the situation no end.
"It has been an accident waiting to happen."
Fellow resident Alison Brankley is also relieved.
She said: "I am pleased this is being done as the situation was getting very bad. I have been in the situation where a bus has been coming the other way and it can be very dangerous.
"Buses come through here every 10 or 15 minutes.
The Mail originally highlighted the issue in August after residents raised concerns.
Councillor Pete Allen has campaigned for some time to have the parking restrictions implemented.
He said: "I am very pleased this is happening. Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
"There simply wasn't any alternative but to have double yellow lines on both sides of the road.
"Hopefully, this will prevent the risk of future accidents."
The double yellow lines will stretch from the junction with Hessle Road to the junction with Pyruss Drive.
Graham Hall, assistant head of service, transport and asset management at Hull City Council, said: "It is expected the double yellow lines will be installed within the next four weeks."

“Agree with Foxache - Surely Henry Boot has made enough money out of this land to give up an acre for parking for Priory Park workers. Our office can hold 150 people but we have parking for 20 - Double yellows on Priory Park have already been painted and so adding them to Summergroves only makes parking worse - Come on HDM add some pressure for parking for employees of Priory Park!”

“Ultimately this is all down to HCC incompetence again - why did they grant planning permission to the businesses on Priory park when quite clearly the plans did not include enough parking provision?”
