Taking care of everybody else means Eileen Preston does not have much time left for herself.

The caring mother of six not only brought up her children but juggled three jobs and numerous charity roles while also acting as a full-time carer.

Her daughter, Anna Preston, said."She worked at the Myton Community Learning Centre and the Lonsdale Community Centre, cooking for the elderly every week and I remember as a child how amazing she was and caring towards everyone who walked through the door.

"Nothing was ever too much trouble and she went above and beyond for the regulars who attended."

Anna nominated the now retired Eileen, 65, for a Femail makeover because of her selfless nature.

When Anna's dad George Andrews had a stroke, Eileen took him in and became his full-time carer, until he died five years ago.

Unfortunately, since then Eileen has become ill herself, suffering from arthritis and carpel tunnel syndrome in her hands and she has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which means she has trouble breathing.

"It is very rare she gets out of the house now and I think she has given and done so much for people," Anna said.

"I would love for her to have a nice day to get pampered and show her how much we all think of her and how amazing she is."

Femail agreed and sent her off to Matalan, at The Mount Retail Park, then Colour Lounge in Carr Lane.

Kelley Meyerhoff, stylist at Colour Lounge, said: "Eileen's hair hadn't been coloured in some time so she had a lot of regrowth.

"So, we decided to put some lovely soft blondes all over the hair.

"With the cut, I took it a lot shorter into the neck because it was quite long. It will be a lot easier to manage."

Sandra Collins, sales assistant at Matalan, said: "Eileen was a lovely lady, she came in with her daughter.

"She didn't want dark colours, she wanted something light and bright.

"Her daughter is into fashion and she was dressing her as well."

Stacey France, who did the make-up at Colour Lounge, said: "When Eileen came in she wanted to keep her overall look very natural.

"I started by highlighting the eyes and took a rose-tinted shadow all over and into the socket, shading and blending onto the eyelid and outer corners finishing the eye with mascara.

"I then added BB tinted moisturiser, followed by a touch of bronzer and blusher, then added a pink lip gloss to lips to finish."

Eileen was overjoyed with the end result and wanted to thank the assistants at Matalan and the stylists at Colour Lounge.

"It was absolutely fantastic, it was a really lovely day," she said.

She wanted something to wear on an evening out but stay covered up in the frosty weather.

"I'm conservative but I don't do black or dark colours," she said.

"It's nice to have something a bit dressy, to go out for a meal in.

"I got three different outfits which I was really happy with.

"I went into Colour Lounge and said 'Can you perform miracles?' because my hair was just grey but they did a really lovely job.

"Anna didn't tell me so it was very unexpected.

"It was a shock. I thought it was a prank when I was told."
