I WOULD like to thank Mrs John Colebrook, who invited me to attend her husband's funeral service at Grimsby Minster.
It was like being at St Paul's Cathedral for the funeral of a great statesman, which he was.
The Handel music was glorious. Few would know that among the important people was an ex-refuse collector. And John was very happy having a pint with his mates. We never talked politics.
John Colebrook, pictured, was one of the lads, even though we were in awe of what he had achieved with his life. Truly a man of the people. A warm, kind-hearted and generous person will always be remembered.
