Eucerin Dermo Purifyer Active Concentrate, £9.18, Eucerin.com

They say: The ideal product for target areas. The serum absorbs quickly and helps to refine and clarify the complexion.

We say: Pimples had nowhere to hide from this powerful product, which made spots disappear almost overnight. The oil-free formula meant it was a little too severe for my dry skin, but it was perfect for dabbing on occasional breakouts. Ideally suited for oily complexions, it is a good form of attack against inflamed spots. A handy size, too.

They say: This formula, for normal and combination skin, has lotus extract as its hero ingredient. The natural anti-oxidant is known to help revitalise skin and leave a fresh looking complexion. Provides an even and smooth base for effective make-up application.

We say: This product is fantastic. The texture is more like a gel than a cream and has a very clean, fresh fragrance. It is easily absorbed leaving a smooth finish, perfect for liquid foundation which I used to struggle with. Highly recommended.

Pond's Triple Action 3A, 50ml, £4.49, boots.com

They say: Anti-wrinkles, firming, anti-age spots action, a mature skin moisturiser cream that visibly reduces wrinkles, gives skin a firmer appearance and helps prevent appearance of age spots. Skin feels smoother, firmer and full of vitality.

We say: As I normally use a higher-end product I was hesitant about using this on my face, but found it really good. You don't need very much, it also has a lovely fragrance to it and it is light when spread over the face and neck, which is deceptive as it is quite solid in the pot. I have been very pleased with the results and it might even save me a few pennies in the future.

Pond's Cold Cream, 50ml, £4.49, boots.com

They say: A rich facial cleanser that cleans deep down without drying your skin. Its gentle yet effective action leaves your skin soft, smooth and radiantly clean.

We say: I don't usually use a cream cleanser, as I prefer a facial wipe at night and a facial scrub in a morning. I started to use the cream cleanser two weeks ago and have used it every night since. It has a very pleasant fragrance and has a lovely thick creamy texture. You can either wipe it off with a tissue or wash it off, I used a tissue and was left with soft very clean and fresh looking skin.
