A TRIP across the Pennines to watch comedian John Bishop and visit the 2008 capital of culture was a fantastic way to spend the weekend. From start to finish, tour operator National Holidays covered our every need on the trip to Manchester and Liverpool.
We were greeted by the National Holidays staff at the coach depot in Hull, with our journey along the M62 flying by thanks to the light-hearted banter from the driver.
Arriving in Manchester city centre ahead of schedule, we were given a few hours to take in the sights of the city and indulge ourselves in the city's retail industry.
Manchester Arndale provided shops to cover every need and the bars of the nearby Northern Quarter were within a short walk to refuel.
After lunch and a few drinks at the popular café, Home Sweet Home, we left Manchester to travel to our hotel in nearby Leigh.
The hotel provided fantastic service and the National Holidays staff ensured everything ran smoothly before boarding the coach once more to travel to the MEN Arena to watch John Bishop.
After two and a half hours of laugh-a-minute comedy it was time to head back to the hotel for one last drink in the hotel bar.
The following morning, after a much- needed breakfast, we set off to Liverpool for the second part of the trip.
The coach dropped us off in the city centre and we headed straight for The Beatles Story on Albert Dock and the famous The Cavern Club.
After all, no trip to Liverpool would be complete without a trip to the legendary hotspot. For the rest of the afternoon, we explored the sights, including the Liver Building, the cathedral and the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
After a long day taking in the sights of this great city it was time to head back to Hull with memories of a weekend packed with laughter and culture.
National Holidays put on a good show at a great price.
