The 79-year-old male driver of the Nissan was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment for whiplash and remains in hospital.

The driver of the Golf, a 74-year-old man, and the front seat passenger, a 72-year-old woman, both from Bridlington, suffered whiplash and bruising and were taken to Scarborough General Hospital to be assessed.

The road was closed until 5.30pm.

Any witnesses are asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log 288 of September 4.
